Couchsurfing Friends
My couchsurfer friend in Jakarta, Eric and Couchsurfer friend in Bandung brought me to the Batavia or Old Jakarta or Kota. We went there after we attended the Jakarta Free Day and before my departure to the airport. They said the Batavia is a must visit place when you visitied Jakarta.
Batavia
Jakarta has been known under several names: Sunda Kelapa during the Kingdom of Sunda period; Jayakarta, Djajakarta or Jacatra during the short period of Banten Sultanate; Batavia, under the Dutch colonial empire; and Djakarta or Jakarta during the Japanese occupation and the modern period.
Fatahillah Museum
The Jakarta History Museum (Indonesian: Museum Sejarah Jakarta), also known as Fatahillah Museum or Batavia Museum, is located in the Old Town (known as Kota) of Jakarta, Indonesia. The building was built in 1710 as the Stadhuis (city hall) of Batavia. Jakarta History Museum, opened in 1974, displays objects from the prehistory period of the city region, the founding of Jayakarta in 1527, and through the Dutch colonization period from the 16th century until Indonesia’s Independence in 1945.
Bicycles
Surprisingly, there were a lot of bicycle to rent around the museum. You can choose whatever kind of bicycle you want. I never know there are a lot of species of bicycle. The hat will be provided when you rent the bike. The hat colour is the same with your bicycle colour.
Food Stalls
In Batavia also, you can try variety of food. Many food stalls are along way. So, get your stomach ready because the foods are waiting for you! Yeah!
Manual Ferris Wheel for Childrens
Ferris wheel usually operate by electricity. Have you seen the Ferris Wheel that you need to paddle the bicycle to make it rotate? Hahaha... Interesting sight. !
